Cracking the UPSC CSE can be a tough task to accomplish, yet alone topping in such an difficult examination. But Aditya Srivastava, 27 year old who hails from the royal city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, not only cracked UPSC CSE 2023 exam but also topped the examination. The Union public service commission announced the UPSC CSE 2023 results on 16th April, 2024, wherein Aditya was announced as the topper of the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023 with the all India rank.
His Academic journey has always been impressive from scoring 95% in 12th to studying at IIT Kanpur, where he pursued a dual degree of BTech and MTech. After Graduating from IIT Kanpur in 2019, he joined one of the leading investment banks, Goldman Sachs, where he worked for about 15 months in total.

Aditya Srivastava Optional Subject | UPSC CSE 2023 AIR 1
Aditya Srivastava was announced as the All India Rank 1 in UPSC CSE 2022–23, and he chose Electrical Engineering as his optional subject for the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023. Moreover, Electrical Engineering is one of the hardest optional subject to choose and prepare for.
How did Aditya Srivastava prepare for UPSC Civil Services Examination?
Aditya Srivastava never believed in preparing for UPSC civil services examination with the help of traditional methods, as he has always believed in making progress and improving with smart work. Aditya always emphasized on the importance of strategic preparation, knowing the whole syllabus thoroughly and then breaking it down into manageable pieces. He mainly replied on self study along with mock tests, and interviews.

Number of attempts in the UPSC CSE | UPSC CSE 2023 AIR 1
Aditya Srivastava left his comfortable and high paying desk job after working for 15 months with the Goldman Sachs, and went back to his hometown. After which, he started to prepare for the UPSC Civil Service Examination.
In spite of him, facing a set back, when couldn’t clear the preliminary stage in his first attempt, in 2021. But did not give up on just yet and kept preparing and tried again. In his second attempt, in 2022, he secured a rank of 236th where in he was selected for the Indian Police Services (IPS), he is currently training in the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.
Aditya stated that the experience of working with the Goldman Sachs is what inspired him truly strive to become an IAS officer. He decided to take another chance, and gave his third attempt in 2023, where he was able secure the AIR 1 rank in the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023.

Aditya Srivastava did his schooling from City Montessori School, Aliganj, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and topped in his 12th with 95% marks. After which he pursued a dual of BTech and MTech from IIT Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh till 2019.
