The results of the UPSC civil services examination 2023 were released on April 16th, whereas the UPSC CSE Prelims were held on May 28 2023, and Mains were held 15 September 2023 onwards.
Aditya Srivastava UPSC 2023 topper, AIR 1
Aditya Srivastava, 27 year old boy hailing from the royal city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, was announced as the AIR 1, Topper of UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023, on 16th April, 2024.
Aditya Srivastava who did his schooling from City Montessori School, Aliganj, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and topped in his 12th with 95% marks. After which he pursued a dual of BTech and MTech from IIT Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh till 2019.
After graduation from IIT Kanpur, in 2019, Aditya Srivastava joined one of the leading investment banks, Goldman Sachs. Where he worked for about 15 months only. As he decided to quit his job and move back to his hometown to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

How did Aditya Srivastava prepare for UPSC Civil Services Examination?
Aditya Srivastava never believed in preparing for UPSC civil services examination with the help of traditional methods, as he has always believed in making progress and improving with smart work. Aditya always emphasized on the importance of strategic preparation, knowing the whole syllabus thoroughly and then breaking it down into manageable pieces. He mainly replied on self study along with mock tests, and interviews.
Aditya Srivastava: Why an Idol for many aspirants?
In spite of facing failure in his first UPSC attempt, in 2021, preliminary stage. Aditya decided to not give up just yet continue to work hard relentlessly. He gave his second attempt in 2022, and secured 236th rank, with electrical engineering as his optional. After which Aditya was selected as Indian Police Service Officer at the Bengal cadre.
Aditya was still training for Indian Police Service in the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, when he attempt for UPSC 2023 for the third time, and marvelously scored AIR 1 rank in the UPSC civil service examination. All because perseverance and vigorous efforts he was able to achieve such a milestone.

On the top of the merit list, Aditya Srivastava has scored AIR 1 in the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023, followed by Animesh Pradhan in the second position, who gained AIR 2.
Animesh Pradhan, 24 years old hails from Odisha. The young boy, who scored the second rank in the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023. Graduated from NIT Rourkela, and currently employed in the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, gave his first attempt of UPSC CSE in 2023 and succeeded in scoring AIR 2 rank in examination. Filling every individual’s heart with pride and joy, residing in his hometown.
He scored 98.8% in 12th, and was also the head boy of his school. Animesh choose sociology as his optional.
Animesh lost his mother last month to cancer, while he was still preparing for the personality test. Animesh shared how overwhelming this is as he wishes to shares this heartfelt news with both of his parents but cannot as his father, who was an principle, too passed away in 2015.
Animesh Pradhan’s Preparation Strategy
He stated, ” I had taken the test series and mentorship programs of many coaching institutes during my preparation. However, there is no substitute for handwork, though luck is said to be a factor to some extent.” He urges,” if I can achieve success in adverse situation, anyone can achieve it.”
Handwork always pays off, and with determination and focus you can achieve anything in life.
On the third number, we have Donuru Ananya Reddy with AIR 3, On the fourth is P K Sidharth Ramkumar with AIR 4, And at last Ruhani on the fifth number with AIR 5.
- Donura Ananya Reddy hailing from Telangana Mahbubnagar district, who secured third position in UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023 in her first attempt, always dreamed of bridging the gap between the people and the governance. She emphasized on creating strategic plan for preparation, studying for 12-14 hours when exam is near. Make sure to go through the syllabus thoroughly and break it into parts to make it more manageable. she also advises students to persevere in adverse challenges and not to give up if faced with failure.
- P K Sidharth Ramkumar was announced as the fourth in the UPSC civil services examination 2023, when he passed the UPSC exam his parents were still unaware of their son’s victory. They came to know about it when their son’s photo was shown in the news with the tagline of ” P K Sidharth Ramkumar, AIR 4 UPSC civil services examination 2023″. P K was still training and as an IPS officer in the National police academy in Hyderabad, when he cleared the exam this year.
- Ruhani who secured the fifth rank in the UPSC civil services examination 2023 in her sixth attempt, the 28 years old hails from the city of Gurgaon, Haryana. She is an economics graduate from Delhi university, and she did her post graduation in Master’s in economics from IGNOU. She had been an Indian Economic Services Officer from the year 2020 to 2023. She was posted at NITI Ayog for 2 years. Later, She qualified the prestigious Civil Services Exam and got selected as IPS officer.
