Later in the 19th century, it became part of the independent princely state of Hyderabad. In 1905 it was merged with surrounding areas and renamed Latur tehsil, and became part of Osmanabad district. Since 1948, Latur was a part of Hyderabad state under Nizam. The governor of Nizam’s Razakar army Qasim Rizwi was from Latur. Subsequently independence and the merger of Hyderabad with the Indian Union, Osmanabad became part of Bombay Province. In 1960, with the creation of Maharashtra, it became one of its districts. Stages of IAS Exam

- IAS Main exam or IAS Mains is the second stage of the UPSC exam. It consists of 9 papers that are taken over 5-7 days. Only those candidates who clear Prelims and Mains General Studies can appear for the interview round.
- UPSC Personality Test (IAS Interview) is the third stage of the UPSC exam. The board members of UPSC interview the candidates and see if a candidate is suitable for a career in civil services.

- IAS Preliminary Exam: It has two papers of objective species and carries a maximum of 400 marks. There are two papers in the preliminary exam. - IAS Main Exam: There are two types of Papers- Qualifying Papers and Papers that will be figured for Merit. The main exam will include both essay writing and objective type questions. The sum aggregate of all papers and the score secured in the interview round will be used for the ranking of candidates.
- IAS Personality Test: An interview of 275 Marks would be taken off the aspirants qualified in the Main Exam. This would encompass the Psychometric Test, Assessment Test as well as the Personal Interview. Marks attained in the test would be added to the calculation for the declaration of the final merit list.
