Vajiram & Ravi:-

Vajiram & Ravi was built in 1976 by prof. P. Velayutham, who holds many academic distinctions from India as well as abroad, and also have the diploma on International Law, which is awarded by the international court of justice, “The Hague”. Since its inception, Vajiram & Ravi has helped more than 5000 aspirants to enter in the CS(Civil Services), and other Central Services. Every year most of the students who are from this academy(Vajiram & Ravi) are able to secure their positions in the list of first ten successfully Aspirants. The faculty is without any doubt has been drawn from highly qualified and experienced mentors from the central university and other reputed institutes. The plus point of this institute is, only two mentors are engaged for each subject. For General Studies, mostly ten educators are guiding the aspirants. Preliminary Test – is the perfect combination of objective questions with the penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers.

1 – General Studies (200 marks)- 2 hours

2 – CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) (200 marks) 2 hours (This will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%)

There is a cut-off in the Preliminary Test which varies every year and is decided by the UPSC.

The Main Exam consists of 9 papers:-
General Studies

Paper 1 – 250 marks (3 hours)

Paper 2 – 250 marks (3 hours)

Paper 3 – 250 marks (3 hours)

Paper 4 – 250 marks (3 hours)

Optional Subject 1

Paper 1 – 250 marks (3 hours)

Paper 2 – 250 marks (3 hours)

Essay – 250 marks (3 hours)

English Language 300 marks (qualifying paper; marks will not include in Main Exam)

Indian Language 300 marks (qualifying paper; marks will not include in Main Exam)

Usually, Paper 1 is held from 9 am to 12 pm and Paper 2 is held from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Both the papers of either General Studies or Optional subject are held on the same day.

Aspirants who qualify for Interview are called by the UPSC in the month of March or April.
The Interviews usually start 2 weeks after the Main Exam results are announced.
The duration of Interviews is around 60 days.

Aspirants must be degree holders or graduates from the recognized by University Grants Commission) to appear for this Examination. Indian students holding a foreign degree need to ensure that their degree is accredited or recognized by UGC.

Aspirants have to choose any one optional subject from a list of the following optional subjects. Candidates can also opt for literature subject as an optional if they so desire.
