A total of 1,016 candidates qualified for all three rounds of the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023 (Prelims + Mains + Personality Test). The candidates of a total of 355 are recommended on a provisional basis.
All the candidates from the merit list released by the Government of India, Press Information Bureau have been recommended for the following positions:
- Indian Administration Services
- Indian Foreign Services
- Indian Police Services
- Central services – ‘ Group A & Group B
The merit list of 2023 UPSC Civil Service Examination has finally been released after the evaluation of the two written exams ( Prelims + Mains) along with the personality test ( interviews) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, which was held from January to April 2024.

On the top of the merit list, Aditya Srivastava has scored AIR 1 in the UPSC Civil Service Examination 2023, followed by Aminesh Pradhan in the second position, who gained AIR 2. On the third number, we have Donuru Ananya Reddy with AIR 3, On the fourth is P K Sidharth Ramkumar with AIR 4, And at last Ruhani on the fifth number with AIR 5.
Who is Aditya Srivastava? Topper of the 2023 UPSC civil services examination
Aditya Srivastava hails from the royal city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Who is an IIT Kanpur graduate, and has scored AIR1 in the 2023 UPSC civil services examination. The results were announced by the government of India on April 16th, signifying the completion of his dedicated efforts.
His Academic journey has always been impressive from scoring 95% in 12th to studying at IIT Kanpur, where he pursued a dual degree of B.Tech and M.Tech.
After graduating from IIT Kanpur, he decided to work for the Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment banking, he spent 15 months working with them. The experience he gained during his tenure of work at the Gold Sachs, is what truly boosted his desire to add value to peoples lives and contribute to the society. Which in-turn caused him to leave the job and go back to his hometown and start preparing for the UPSC CSE.
Paving the path with determination and relentless hard work
Aditya’s previous attempt in UPSC CSE landed him the 236th rank in the year of 2022, after which he decided to join the Indian Police Services ( better known as IPS ). He is currently training for Indian Police Services at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
Aditya’s wish to become an IAS officer never came from the motivation to earn more money but from the heartfelt wish to be in service and provide value to society and his country. His story has served as an inspiration to thousands of UPSC civil service examination aspirants, now that he is living his dream after scoring AIR 1 in the 2023 UPSC civil services examination.
